FlashFix

PRE-REPAIR TERMS & CONDITIONS

Upfront Technician Service Charge

The following technician service charge must be paid when the device is booked in:

  • Mobile phone: £20

  • Tablet: £35

  • Laptop or computer: £35

The charge covers technician time for inspection, diagnosis, testing, opening, disassembly and reassembly.

When the agreed repair is completed, the service charge will normally be credited towards the final repair price unless your booking or repair ticket states otherwise.

Once technician work has started, the service charge is non-refundable if you cancel, decide not to continue, or the requested repair cannot be completed because of a hidden, pre-existing or unrelated fault.

Back Up Your Device

You are responsible for backing up your photographs, contacts, messages, documents and other important information before submitting your device.

We do not normally erase or restore a device during a standard hardware repair. However, existing software, driver, storage, operating-system or hardware faults may cause data to become damaged, missing or inaccessible.

If a factory reset, software installation or operating-system restoration becomes necessary, we will normally pause the repair and contact you for approval. Waiting for your response may extend the repair time.

Dead or Untestable Devices

If your device is dead on arrival, has no display, cannot power on, is locked, is stuck in a boot loop or cannot otherwise be tested, we cannot confirm which functions or components were working before repair.

A damaged device may have visible and hidden faults. Additional problems may only become apparent after the device is opened, repaired, reassembled or powered on.

Independent Repair Provider

FlashFix is an independent repair service provider. We are not an authorised repair centre, agent or representative of Apple, Samsung, Google, Microsoft or any other manufacturer or company.

Parts and Warranty

Depending on availability and the selected repair option, we may use aftermarket-compatible, OEM-quality, premium-compatible, standard-compatible or refurbished-original parts.

A part will only be described as genuine or manufacturer-original where this is specifically confirmed on your repair ticket or invoice.

Our warranty covers the replacement part supplied by FlashFix and the workmanship directly connected with the agreed repair. It does not automatically cover the entire device, unrelated components, hidden faults or functions that could not be tested before repair.

Warranty Exclusions

Our warranty does not cover:

  • Devices with pre-existing body, housing, chassis or frame damage. Such devices are not eligible for our standard repair warranty unless a warranty is specifically confirmed in writing on the repair ticket. Existing structural damage can place pressure on replacement parts and may affect their fit, performance or durability;

  • Liquid or moisture damage;

  • Physical, accidental or impact damage;

  • Cracks, dents, scratches or cosmetic damage;

  • Misuse, pressure damage or improper handling;

  • Bent or damaged frames;

  • Pre-existing, hidden or unrelated faults;

  • Software, account or data-related problems;

  • Normal battery deterioration;

  • Repairs or modifications by another provider; or

  • New damage occurring after collection.

Water Resistance

Once a device has been opened, its original waterproof or water-resistant rating cannot be guaranteed, even where replacement adhesive or seals are applied.

Detailed Terms and Conditions

1. Ownership and Authority

You confirm that you are the lawful owner of the device or have permission from its lawful owner to authorise its inspection and repair.

We may request identification or evidence of ownership where reasonably necessary. We may refuse service where ownership is uncertain or where we reasonably suspect that a device has been lost, stolen or unlawfully obtained.

2. Repair Authorisation

You authorise FlashFix to:

  • Inspect and open the device;

  • Disconnect and reconnect components;

  • Perform diagnostic and functional tests;

  • Test existing and replacement parts;

  • Complete the repair recorded on the booking or repair ticket; and

  • Test the device before and after repair.

We will normally request your approval before carrying out additional chargeable work that was not included in the original quotation.

3. Technician Service Charge

The applicable £20 or £35 technician service charge must be paid upfront when your device is booked in.

Once inspection, diagnosis, testing, opening, disassembly or repair work has started, the charge becomes payment for technician work already completed.

The service charge will be retained where:

  • You cancel after technician work begins;

  • You decide not to proceed after diagnosis;

  • A replacement part is tested but does not resolve the fault;

  • The device has a motherboard, hidden or unrelated fault; or

  • The repair cannot be completed because of the device’s existing condition.

Where the full repair price has been paid in advance, any refundable balance will be returned after deducting the applicable technician service charge and any other reasonable costs previously approved by you.

The service charge will be refunded if you cancel before technician work begins, unless a special-order part or another cost has already been authorised and incurred.

Nothing in this section affects your statutory rights where our service has not been performed with reasonable care and skill.

4. Quotations and Additional Work

A quotation provided before physically inspecting the device is based on the information available at that time.

The price or repair requirement may change if we discover:

  • Hidden or internal damage;

  • Liquid damage or corrosion;

  • Previous repair damage;

  • Missing or damaged components;

  • A bent or damaged frame;

  • Motherboard, battery or storage failure; or

  • A fault different from the one originally reported.

We will contact you before completing additional chargeable work. You may accept or decline the revised quotation.

If you decline, the technician service charge and any other reasonable costs already authorised and incurred will remain payable.

5. Unsuccessful Repairs

A replacement screen, battery, charging port or other component may not resolve the fault where the device has an additional motherboard, connector, power, storage or software problem.

If a replacement part is tested but does not resolve the fault:

  • The replacement part will normally be removed where reasonably possible;

  • Any refundable repair balance will be returned; and

  • The applicable technician service charge will be retained.

We do not guarantee that every damaged, liquid-damaged, previously repaired or dead device can be successfully repaired.

6. Device Condition and Hidden Faults

We will make reasonable efforts to record visible damage when receiving the device. However, not every internal or hidden fault can be identified before the device is opened, powered on or tested.

Hidden faults may result from:

  • Impact, pressure or bending;

  • Liquid exposure or corrosion;

  • Battery swelling;

  • Previous repair attempts;

  • Poor-quality parts or adhesive;

  • Damaged connectors or cables;

  • Missing screws, shields or components;

  • Motherboard failure; or

  • Storage or software failure.

Opening, testing or restoring power to a damaged device may reveal a fault that was already present. An additional fault becoming visible after repair does not, by itself, mean that our work caused it.

7. Dead on Arrival and Untestable Devices

A device may be recorded as dead on arrival or untestable where it:

  • Does not power on;

  • Has no display;

  • Cannot charge;

  • Is stuck in a boot loop or recovery mode;

  • Is locked and cannot be accessed;

  • Has severe physical or liquid damage; or

  • Cannot complete normal pre-repair testing.

In these circumstances, we may be unable to confirm the condition of the:

  • Display and touchscreen;

  • Cameras;

  • Charging system and battery;

  • Speakers and microphones;

  • Buttons and vibration;

  • Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and mobile network;

  • Fingerprint and facial-recognition functions;

  • Sensors;

  • Storage and software; or

  • Motherboard and internal components.

Restoring one function may reveal another pre-existing fault. Our warranty applies to the agreed repair and the replacement part installed by us, not automatically to functions that could not be tested beforehand.

8. Data Backup, Software and Restoration

You are responsible for backing up your device before repair.

Data recovery is not included unless it has been separately requested, assessed, quoted and approved.

We cannot guarantee the preservation of data where a device has an existing hardware, storage, software, driver or operating-system fault.

If a factory reset, software installation or operating-system restoration becomes necessary, we will normally:

  1. Pause the repair;

  2. Contact you for approval; and

  3. Wait for your instructions before continuing.

If you do not approve the required process, we may be unable to complete the repair. The technician service charge and any authorised costs already incurred will remain payable.

Nothing in this section excludes responsibility for data loss directly caused by our failure to exercise reasonable care and skill.

9. Passcodes, Testing and Privacy

Providing your PIN, password or passcode is optional. However, without access, we may be unable to test certain functions before and after repair.

Where access is provided, you authorise our technicians to use it only for reasonable diagnosis, repair and testing.

We will not intentionally access personal photographs, messages, emails, banking applications, social-media accounts or information unrelated to the repair.

If access is not provided, untested functions may be recorded on the repair ticket. We cannot confirm the condition of functions that we have been unable to test.

10. Personal Information and RepairDesk

We collect customer information such as your name, telephone number, email address, device details, repair records, payment information and digital signature to manage your booking and provide the repair service.

We use RepairDesk as our repair-management and point-of-sale platform. RepairDesk processes customer and repair information on behalf of FlashFix under our service agreement.

We do not sell customer information or share it with other businesses for their own marketing purposes. RepairDesk is required to protect the information and must not use it for unrelated purposes or disclose it to unauthorised third parties.

Further details are available in the Privacy Policy on the FlashFix website.

11. Replacement Parts

Depending on the device, availability, budget and selected repair option, we may use:

  • Aftermarket-compatible parts;

  • OEM-quality parts;

  • Premium-compatible parts;

  • Standard-compatible parts;

  • Refurbished-original parts; or

  • Genuine manufacturer parts, where expressly confirmed.

The term OEM-quality does not necessarily mean that the part was manufactured, supplied or approved by the original device manufacturer.

The selected part type, price and warranty period should be recorded on your booking, repair ticket or invoice.

12. Replacement-Part Notifications and Feature Limitations

Some devices may display a screen, battery, camera or replacement-part notification after repair.

Depending on the device model and selected part, certain manufacturer-controlled features may be affected, including:

  • Battery-health information;

  • True Tone or automatic brightness;

  • Fingerprint recognition;

  • Face recognition;

  • Screen calibration; or

  • Manufacturer repair-history information.

A manufacturer-generated notification does not automatically mean that the replacement part is defective.

Where we are aware of a likely limitation before repair, we will explain it to you.

13. Repair Times

All turnaround times are estimates unless a completion time is specifically guaranteed in writing.

Repairs may take longer because of:

  • Hidden or additional faults;

  • Parts availability;

  • Supplier or delivery delays;

  • Liquid damage or corrosion;

  • Software problems;

  • Complex diagnostic work;

  • Manufacturer restrictions; or

  • Waiting for customer approval.

Online booking does not guarantee that the required part is already in stock. Back-order parts often arrive on the next working day, but supplier delays may occur.

14. Manufacturer Warranty and Support

FlashFix is not an authorised repair centre for any manufacturer or brand unless expressly confirmed in writing.

Using an independent repair provider may affect:

  • The manufacturer’s warranty;

  • Device insurance;

  • Trade-in eligibility or value;

  • Future authorised repairs; or

  • Manufacturer support.

By authorising the repair, you acknowledge this possibility.

15. Water and Liquid Resistance

Once a device has been opened, its original waterproof or water-resistant rating cannot be guaranteed.

Replacement adhesive or seals may be applied where appropriate, but this does not guarantee that the original manufacturer IP rating has been restored.

You should keep the repaired device away from water, rain, steam and excessive moisture.

16. Repair Warranty

The applicable warranty period will be shown on your repair ticket or invoice.

Unless otherwise stated:

  • Standard-compatible parts: 30-day warranty;

  • Premium-compatible parts: 90-day warranty; and

  • Selected OEM-quality or high-quality parts: Lifetime Warranty.

A Lifetime Warranty applies only to the original customer for as long as they own the repaired device.

The warranty covers:

  • The replacement part supplied by FlashFix; and

  • Workmanship directly connected with the agreed repair.

The warranty does not cover:

  • Devices with pre-existing body, housing, chassis or frame damage. Such devices are not eligible for our standard repair warranty unless a warranty is specifically confirmed in writing on the repair ticket. Existing structural damage can place pressure on replacement parts and may affect their fit, performance or durability;

  • Liquid or moisture damage;

  • Physical, accidental or impact damage;

  • Cracks, dents, scratches or cosmetic damage;

  • Pressure marks, display lines or black spots caused by damage;

  • Misuse, neglect or improper handling;

  • Bent or damaged frames;

  • Pre-existing, hidden or unrelated faults;

  • Functions that could not be tested before repair;

  • Software, account or data-related problems;

  • Normal battery deterioration;

  • Repair or modification by another provider; or

  • New damage occurring after collection.

This housing/body-damage warranty exclusion does not affect your statutory rights where our repair service has not been performed with reasonable care and skill.

The device must be returned to FlashFix for inspection before a warranty claim can be approved.

Where the installed part or related workmanship is covered, we will normally repair or replace the affected part without an additional repair charge.

17. Cancellation

You may cancel before technician work begins and receive a refund of the service charge, provided that no authorised special-order costs have already been incurred.

If you cancel after technician work has begun, the applicable technician service charge will be retained as payment for work already completed.

Special-order parts and other costs previously authorised by you may also remain payable where they cannot reasonably be cancelled or returned.

Where a service contract is concluded entirely online or by telephone, a statutory 14-day cancellation period may apply. A customer who expressly requests work to begin during that period may be required to pay for work completed before cancellation.

18. Payment and Collection

Unless otherwise agreed, all outstanding charges must be paid before the device is released.

You are responsible for providing accurate contact details and collecting the device after being notified that it is ready.

Devices that remain uncollected will be handled only after reasonable attempts to contact the customer and in accordance with applicable legal notice requirements.

19. Responsibility

FlashFix will perform repair services with reasonable care and skill.

We are responsible for direct and reasonably foreseeable loss caused by our breach of these Terms or our failure to exercise reasonable care and skill.

We are not responsible for faults or losses caused by:

  • The device’s pre-existing condition;

  • Hidden or unrelated faults;

  • Existing software, hardware or storage failure;

  • Previous repair work;

  • Inaccurate information supplied by the customer;

  • Failure to back up data;

  • Manufacturer restrictions; or

  • Circumstances outside our reasonable control.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits responsibility for fraud, personal injury caused by negligence, failure to exercise reasonable care and skill, or any responsibility that cannot legally be excluded. UK consumer repair services must be performed with reasonable care and skill, and written consumer terms must be fair, legible and transparent.

20. Statutory Rights

These Terms and Conditions are additional to your statutory consumer rights. Nothing in these Terms removes, restricts or replaces any right that cannot legally be excluded.

If any part of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining sections will continue to apply.
